Biden Says He’s In…Again

We’ve lost track of how many times Senator Joseph R. Biden has announced that he’s running for president in 2008, but we think this might be the last one. The Delaware Democrat, who first sought the presidency in 1988, filed papers with the Federal Election Commission today and will appear on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” tonight.
But first, he appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where he clarified what stage he’s in. “Everybody else calls it ‘exploratory,’” he said. “I’m not exploring. I’m in. And this is the beginning of a marathon.”
A sponsor of the first resolution against President Bush’s troop increase and chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Mr. Biden belittled the plans by some of his top competition for the Democratic nomination in an interview with the New York Observer:
To hear him tell it, Hillary Clinton’s position is calibrated, confusing and “a very bad idea.” John Edwards doesn’t know what he’s talking about and is pushing a recipe for Armageddon in the Middle East. Barack Obama is offering charming but insubstantial fluff. And all of them are playing politics.
“Let me put it this way,” Mr. Biden said. “You didn’t hear any one of them get in this debate at all until they announced for President.”
In his interview with the Observer, Mr. Biden also had this to say about Mr. Obama:
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
The Observer asked the various candidates to respond to Mr. Biden’s remarks. The press officers for Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Edwards declined. Mr. Obama’s campaign spokesman, Bill Burton, wrote to the Observer in an e-mail:
“Senator Obama opposed the Iraq War from Day 1 and has articulated clear principles in how to address the tragic mistakes President Bush has made there.” And as for rest — including Mr. Biden’s use of the words “articulate” and “nice-looking” to describe the Senator from Illinois — the spokesman said, “Senator Biden’s words speak for themselves.”

Actor Christopher Walken to run as Candidate in 2008 Presidential Race
For Immediate Release
New York - Early today, actor Christopher Walken, 62, held a private conference at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York in which he announced his intentions to run for the Presidency of the United States in the 2008 Election.
Said the Queens native, “I have always been a follower of politics. My father was friends with the mayor of Schodack (NY) back in the 1940’s. We would walk the streets of Schodack and the people, they would wave to him. The children adored him. That is what I love to be, a man of respect and love.”
From a statement by Walken's agent, Toni Howard: “Mr. Walken has greatly admired the celebrities who have entered politics and he wants to be able to give a good name and reputation to the acting community as well as the political community. As for going national with this news we have not made any plans for the immediate future."
Because Mr. Walken is currently contracted for more than one film production, the Walken campaign manager Michael Hansee admitted that there would be relatively minimal publicity at this early stage. "[Mr. Walken] has a full plate right now, acting in a number of different films, and can't start any personal campaign work until these obligations are fulfilled," he commented. "We're looking to spread the word and build a little support base with our site, in preparation for a full campaign in early 2007."
The campaign website is patriotic-themed, with the tag-line "To Get America Back on Track." Hansee stated that the campaign is hoping to drum up early support through their online presence, much as Howard Dean did in the 2004 race.

What does it Mean?
Some people are confused with the title "Hip-Hop for President or they let it confuse them to some extent. Its really just a figure of speech. Its not literal and we are not electing a President of Hip-Hop. It goes back to when I was a kid and there use to be all of these names that used to come out of the woodwork and say that they were running for President when in actuality they weren't. I see that Christopher Walken for President has a site with his picture, t-shirts. So now that has to be part of the film! Is he really running? I have to talk with him on tape and see if he is actually a candidate! How perfect is that. Id love him to be apart of this film.
Don't get me wrong, this film will be no joke. We are looking for the truth and I have always said to my co-director Don Sikorski that something is going to happen in this race like never before and it will galvanize the country, and we have to be ready with cameras and energy to go and get that story, just like we did on our last film Rap Sheet. We will shoot it in our signature style, run and gun. We are putting the team of young shooters and editors together who will hit the road with us in 2008 to get the footage that I feel will go down in history. Most political election films don't do well but I feel that is because it is with someone who is predictable, like actors. Nothing against actors !!!

Conversation with Russell Simmons
I usually see my fellow yogi Russell Simmons at Yoga class and we exchange hellos and some small talk about our practice. We’ve been going to Yoga together for years it seams. Tonight I brought up the fact that my next project is a film about the 2008 Presidential election called Hip-Hop for President. I didn’t have to explain the title to him for one second, he got it immediately, he said was that he is going to be very involved in the election in a big way and will host a candidate in some way. I told him that I wanted him in the film from the beginning, for the next two years basically. Russell will be one component of many threads that will make up the film but allot of the initial idea is based on him and what he does with Dr. Ben Chavis and the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network. Id like to use him as a sounding board on film and interview him candidly regarding certain events that come up over time regarding the candidates. But that going to be up to him and his mood which was pretty good tonight
HILARY CLINTON DOCUMENTARY
Another documentary is in the works, nothing like HipHopForPresident08, but also another sign that the Republican base will again use everything at their disposal. Former Clinton poltitical insider and advisor has some sort of vendetta, I found this article written by famed CNN Journalist Robert Novak, take a look and do some more investigating.

Persons on Republican mailing lists this week received an appeal for funds from Dick Morris, President Bill Clinton's political strategist in 1995-1996, asking for a contribution between $25 and $100 or more to finance a critical film documentary of Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Signing the letter as "Former Clinton Adviser," Morris wrote: "If you liked how the Swift Boat Veterans turned the tide against John Kerry, you understand how a top Clinton aide can turn the tables and stop a Clinton-style liberal from becoming the next president of the United States."
Morris's appeal was made through The Presidential Coalition, run by conservative activist Dave Bossie. The letter described Morris as dedicated to electing presidents like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. Since 1996, Morris has been an author, columnist and television commentator.

THE VIOLENCE IN IRAQ
What are the thoughts and feelings on the war in Iraq? And how will it effect the election in 2008. The issue that is on everyones mind, and the issue that the American Public wants answers for is the war and our young soldiers. HH4P is going to address a wide range of issues over the next year, and we are going to address them from the perspective of the Hip-Hop generation. Many people ask what the Hip-Hop generation really means and does it actually exist? For the film and from our viewpoint it does. The first glimpse of the effect of the Hip-Hop generation I witnessed first hand while traveling with Dr. Ben Chavis on the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network Get out the Vote bus that traveled the country in 2004. I saw the power that individual artists had in speaking with young adults and others about the importance of voting. I filmed many rally's and interviews that showcased the Hip-Hop generation is a generation that is blind to racial lines, blind to ignorance about culture and open to new ideas and strategies to better bring people together. We are at a very important juncture in this country heading into 2008. The war might well be the issue that galvanizes the Democrats and the Republicans, and the war might be the deciding factor in who gets elected.

Welcome to the official blog as of 1/30/07 of Hip-Hop For President 08. HHFP is a documentary film that is going to follow the race for the next president of the United States of America. You have your Fox News, CNN, BBC, NBC, ABC, and CBS, and you have your partisan blogs such as the Huffington Post and Daily Kos, well HHFP is a little different. We are going to take a partisan look, a fresh perspective on the issues and candidates and not pull for any favorites. We realize that across the nation on both the Democratic and Republican sides there is a sense that 2008 could be the year of major change. Hilary, Obama, McCain, Guiliani are all making headlines now, but will there be a dark horse that comes out of the country like Jimmy Carter did.
