THE VIOLENCE IN IRAQ

What are the thoughts and feelings on the war in Iraq? And how will it effect the election in 2008. The issue that is on everyones mind, and the issue that the American Public wants answers for is the war and our young soldiers. HH4P is going to address a wide range of issues over the next year, and we are going to address them from the perspective of the Hip-Hop generation. Many people ask what the Hip-Hop generation really means and does it actually exist? For the film and from our viewpoint it does. The first glimpse of the effect of the Hip-Hop generation I witnessed first hand while traveling with Dr. Ben Chavis on the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network Get out the Vote bus that traveled the country in 2004. I saw the power that individual artists had in speaking with young adults and others about the importance of voting. I filmed many rally's and interviews that showcased the Hip-Hop generation is a generation that is blind to racial lines, blind to ignorance about culture and open to new ideas and strategies to better bring people together. We are at a very important juncture in this country heading into 2008. The war might well be the issue that galvanizes the Democrats and the Republicans, and the war might be the deciding factor in who gets elected.

One important thing to think about, the majority of those young soldiers in Iraq are 17, 18, 19 years young, fighting to protect us. Over the course of the following months we will have other experts weigh on what Hip-Hop For President means to them and how they define the Hip-Hop generation. Right now the news is dominated by Obama and Hilary a groundbreaking contest that will hopefully allow this country to grow. HipHopForPresident 08 the documentary film will also be defined on how much we think this country can change and can the Hip-Hop Vote make a diffference, if the music can influence millions across the globe, why can't it be harnessed for political power.
